About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. What you say in this post is so true. My mother and my grand mother used to cook from scratch and I did the same. My older daughter is in college now and she cook her meals at home from scratch. Compared to other from her age she look strange but she has very good food habits and she's healthy. From Quebec, Canada.

Is there anything healthy that your husband won't eat?  For example, mine "doesn't like" sweet potatoes, seafood, liver, corn, lima beans, cabbage, or food that is sweet+savory (like Teryaki sauce).  I work around his dislikes, but how do other people deal with a particular spouse?

GRANDMA DONNA WROTE,  S Scribbler,  My husband will eat most anything I cook, he does not really care for fish but will eat it if it is cooked and prefers certain fish.  He will eat most any vegetable.  We all have likes and dislikes and each of us grow up with the way our parents cook so that is different.  So a blend of what you like and he likes would work.  But another way is to try and cook that vegetable in a way that he might would eat it.  My daughter is not crazy about eating sweet potatoes so she does not cook them at her home but she likes the way that we cook them.  So you might could cook them in a different way.  This is why we started cubing our sweet potatoes and sautee them in light oil in a skillet and then put them in the oven to bake.  There are several ways to cook sweet potatoes or also some things can be added to a stew.    When it comes to food today, food is too expensive to be picky and when we were growing up in my family we learned to never say we did not like something or we would get another spoonful.  ?  Anyone reading here that would like to comment please do so.  Grandma Donna
