About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Journal Albert and Gladys May June and July

May 26, 2019

I am back to posting on Albert and Gladys, the 1932 journal of their expenditures during this year of the great depression. If you have not read their journal up to this point you can go to this link to get back to the beginning post for the month of January

As we move through their journal we see that they are not going to the store as often since we see postings for ice which means they now have an ice box for refrigeration. It may have looked something like this above. Albert is still employed and Gladys is home taking care of their home and small baby.

I have been typing out the journal but I have increased the size of the pictures so I hope you can read this without me typing it out.

I will keep working on getting these scanned in to share them with you. It is fascinating to be able to see a real journal of a young family and their expenses during 1932.  I hope you are enjoying the journals and diaries.  Grandma Donna
