This is Thanksgiving week here in the United States and many people are traveling to see family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving day.

When we research why we celebrate Thanksgiving we can go back to the Plymouth Colonist when they gave thanks for a successful first harvest after a difficult period and reflect on the years 1621 and 1623. The modern National Celebration of 1863 consist of food associated with the New England Harvest Celebration and consisted of foods such as Turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, Squash, Corn, green beans, cranberries and pumpkin pie.

Charles and I try to keep our Thanksgiving traditional in the way of thanks but not the all out over indulging anymore so we can stretch our food during this difficult time that many people are going through.

We are thankful for any harvest we can get out of our garden.

This is a wonderful time of year to celebrate, the weather is getting cooler and it is time to harvest cotton and to gather and store the fall crops to help us get through the winter when our gardens are resting.
I want to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving but I have a very special request for prayer.
Our friend Kieva that is one of our commentors in our forum has shared with us a very difficult time that she, and her baby Jacob are going thorough. Prayers are much needed for baby Jacob as he is going through many challenges and I will explain more in the forum as will Kieva.
I ask that you keep them covered in prayers, for baby Jacob to overcome all of his challenges.
Happy Thanksgiving, Grandma Donna
