If you walked into our home this time of year you will find seeds soaking, garden notebooks, and seed packets everywhere.

We have spread out in places and jammed up in other places trying to find the best places for the sun or shade that is needed for the plants we are growing. We have to use our imagination of what this will look like in another two months, we hope it looks like a food forest. :)

We have added metal trellis's over our grow tanks because wood rots. We have had to rebuild so many things in our garden that now when we rebuild we use metal. Many of the seeds have been planted and now we wait for them to emerge. We have added a lot of trellis's for cucumbers, beans, some supports for okra and anything that vines.

This is one of our rose arbor's and the old fashioned climbing rose has been beautiful this year. This goes over our pet cemetery.

This is a very old fashioned soft pale pink trailing rose that smells wonderful.

We are cleaning up the winter mess now that we are in spring. We left the leaves to compost this winter and now we have mulched and also spread out some wood chips here and there.

We made hangers under one of our arbors so that we can hang some of our hanging baskets that hold cut and come back lettuces if there is going to be hail or high winds.

Our poor little lemon tree had some damage from the cold but it is making a comeback now. Albert the duck has had a busy time with all of the garden cleanup. Henny Penny loves her special nest.

This area is our next project we are going to build a frame around the small seedlings green house, and put some clear roofing on top with gutters around it to catch rainwater for this little seedling house. Our plants do not like city water and so we are catching water at different locations. I will show all of this at some point when it makes more sense. We are also adding a small window in the back to let air flow through.
Everything is still emerging and there is still much clean up to do.
I want to add that I actually prefer in ground gardening, there is less cost to gardening. We have grow tanks because we are older and want to continue to garden and it is difficult for us to bend down to the ground, the raised garden tanks makes gardening safer for us. We saved our money for gardening items and has taken us a long time purchasing things out of our garden fund.

I am late with posting because I cut my little finger and it is sore and not easy to type a post. Nothing serious but just will take a bit of time to heal.

I am concerned how many things are starting to resemble our study of 1942. I feel that this is the time we should be paying attention to the things that are happening in our world that do resemble 1942. We have the opportunity right now to be smart about things and make wise decisions.
War is terrible anyway we look at it and just like ww2, ordinary good people working jobs, raising families just trying to make a living and feed their families find themselves affected in so many ways over war. This is not the way it is supposed to be.

I am trying my best to be strong and not use my website to stand on my soapbox about what is going on. So I will keep doing what I need to do and that is encourage others to go back to basics and do all you can to take care of yourselves and your family. Grow food even if it is one plant that you can eat.
Keep extra food and water on hand. Learn the skills that our generations before us had. We would waste our time bashing others with words, be strong and stay busy with what is important. Learn to make soup, the nourishment is in the broth.
Because it is difficult to type with a sore finger, I am including two links to post that I did during the first time we studied ww2 1942 that I did in 2017, One post is the March 30, and the other is April 4th.

We can talk about things up in the forum as long as it is not political. Political talk just makes people angry but we can talk about your concerns and also what makes sense. Grandma Donna
