About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Yum! I made these salmon cakes for lunch today and they are so good! I only had a 6 oz can so I scaled it down a bit, but will definitely be making them again. Thank you for sharing your recipe. :)

I read this post a long time ago, probably when you first posted it, but there wasn't a comment section then.  Tonight I made up some homemade soup to take to a friend's mother, and I am waiting for it to cool so I can put it in the refrigerator.  I started reading older posts while I wait.

I loved this post!

We didn't travel much when I was young, and all my relatives lived nearby.  We did go to the Jersey shore in the summer, usually for a week, as my dad worked for someone who owned a rental house down there.  As it wasn't too long of a trip, my mom would just bring snack type food, like fruit or cookies, for the ride.  All of our meals would be made at the rental house.

I am going to try these salmon cakes, but make a smaller batch as I am the only fish eater in the house right now.  They look good!  Thanks for sharing the recipe!
