First of all I want to say that I am praying for all of you that are in the path of Hurricane Matthew. For all my blog peeps that are in the area of the hurricane please send me an email when you can to let me know you are ok.
We are ok here and far enough away to only have a breeze and right at the edge of the cloud cover, nothing expected here at least at this time. We are hoping that Matthew will go out to sea.
Now about the laundry soap.
Some of you have asked me how I make my laundry soap.
Since I first started making it I purchased a scale and it really does make a better laundry mix.
I put a lightweight container on the scale and zero it out.
Grate the soap you are going to use. This can be any non synthetic soap, "real soap". Dr. Bronners, Kirks Castile, Grandma's Lye soap, homemade soap or a laundry bar soap. This is Goatmilkstuff.com laundry bar that I have grated and I am liking this soap very much.
I grate a small amount at a time but I could grate the entire bar and make a big batch.
So I grate a bit and then weigh it. it is 0.7
I remove the container and pour the grated soap into another container...
I put the empty container back on the scale and zero out the scale. I add borax until it says 0.7
This is 0.7 borax
I pour the borax in the container with the grated soap.
Then I do the same thing with washing soda, I put the empty container on the scale, zero it out and measure 0.7 of washing soda, So now this has three ingredients, grated soap, washing soda and borax all equal measurements. I use one tablespoon per load but that can be adjusted to how dirty your clothes are. I really like the way this cleans our laundry.
This week we dug up some more sweet potatoes just to give you an update.
We finally had our internet cable man come to fix our cable. I need to upgrade as our internet is slow and I have slowed down on posting because my internet is so slow but we are getting that fixed. Also my camera is giving me a bit of trouble with blurry pictures. I have to take several to get a clear photo. I may go to a camera shop to figure out what the problem is. Could be all the garden dirt, laundry soap, flour, sweat, and house dust :)
Again, all you Florida, Georgia, the Carolina's and Virginia blog peeps, please send me a quick email after the storm passes to let me know you are ok. I sure hope this large storm does not loop around and somehow get into the gulf of Mexico, that could be a bad thing.
