The Beginning of our camper called The Shabby Cabby
This is Elizabeth and she loves our little vintage camper we call "The Shabby Cabby"
And this is Katherine on the left and Elizabeth on the right and they think they are the owners of our little Vintage Camper.
I will now show and tell you our story of our Shabby Cabby
So here she sits after we pulled her in and parked her. My husband had been driving by this house for months that had this little camper and a sign on it that said "For Sale" One day he said, "I want to take you to see something". So off we went and we fell in love with this little camper that had all these pretty windows.
There was just this one problem, they had gutted the camper and started adding things back to make it a hunting camper and then quit. Knowing nothing about travel trailers we bought it and then had buyers remorse. But we still liked the windows.
This is the view of the back and everything that is important that needs to be in a camper had been removed, cut off and disposed of but we liked the windows and they actually opened and closed.
So there she sat with open holes everywhere for anything that wanted to come inside to have at it. So we close her up and put boards and duct tape and an entire year passed with her just sitting in our side yard.
So one day a year later I went to the store and purchased some primer, paint, blinds and little hooks and decided to do something in that camper to make it feel happy instead of so gloomy.
My thoughts were if I could just start something then possibly it would motivate us to do something else. It was just so bad that we did not have a clue where to start. Even the wheel wells had been cut off. Then we closed her up and she sat another year.
Then one day I asked my husband, "Do you think we could move the camper to the back yard?"
Everyone that saw this asked us "How did you get it back there?" We just say, "It wasn't easy!" Then I decided that we needed to name the camper and I was figuring at this point that we would never get it rolling so I would just paint it and have it for a sleep over place for the Grand's. That was when the name "Shabby Cabby" came.
I decided that I would fix up the front where the pretty round window was even if the back no longer had a floor for more motivation and a funny thing happened.
My husband got this mental picture of how the camper could look and actually started working on the camper. This is me sitting in a chair admiring the front of the camper.
He built us a kitchen and put in a sink while.......
While inspector Kathrine kept a watchful eye on everything.
I started expanding the painting and blinds and started making curtains and hubby kept building.
We built this contraption we call our bathroom/shower unit
Built in beds with storage under the beds and added hooks for our hanging storage bags.
Finished our bathroom wall
So since there was no camper wiring we thought things through and decided we would make our Shabby Cabby have only basic lighting and water would be from using lavabo' and basins. Our toilet would be a composting toilet and we would put in a few solar lights and a skylight. Check for next new page update..........
