About gDonna
The photo is my son and myself. Now days you can get a photo made to look old like this one. This photo was taken when this was the new look.

Harry S Truman was president when I was born and world war II had ended. I grew up in a time when lunch was put in a brown paper bag and a sandwich was wrapped with wax paper. There was no such thing as pantyhose, we wore stockings that attached to the rubbery clippy things that attached to the girdle. Convenience stores were not common and when we took a trip we packed a picnic basket because many places did not have fast food. Highways had places to pull over and stop, some with picnic tables. Early April working toward fresh vegetables

April 4, 2016

Sprouting sweet potato slips. To grow sweet potatoes you first have to sprout slips from the sweet potato.

Then remove the slips....

And put them in water to root. Once they have good strong roots they can be planted in soil.

It is very early spring here and our turnip greens are producing roots which is one of my favorite vegetables.

Our tomato plants are now producing baby tomatoes. It won't be long.

My husband planted potatoes this year. Around valentines day was when we planted these. He has several pots and raised beds with potatoes. As they grow he mounds dirt around them until he runs out of room to put anymore soil.

Just about everywhere we look there is something growing in a pot or in the ground.

This is eggplant and we now have two baby eggplants and the leaves are getting very large.

We have eight bell pepper plants this year. Each one is different. Red, yellow, green, purple, mexican, and so on.

I love petunias....

Our blackeyed susans have emerged all over the yard and are starting to bloom.

The Amaryllis are very pretty this year.

These are baby blueberries. I hope there will be enough to put up a bit of jelly.

I have not posted much because I have been very busy outside and when I am done I get my shower and head to bed to read.  I have most of the hard things done so I should be back inside more.

I think the drip irrigation is going to be very helpful this year because it will much easier than carrying rain water or standing there with a garden hose. Now we simply turn on the faucets and walk away and come back in half hour and turn them off.  My husband is continuing to add them to other areas and when it is all finished I will post about it.

Take care, Grandma Donna
